The Great Divide

It was getting dark. Katara was gathering wood for a fire, Sokka was putting up the tent, and Aang was looking for some food.
"What about the tarp?" Katara asked Sokka, as he was getting done putting up the tent. "Oh, yah." Sokka said. He picked up the tarp that was rolled up and threw it into the tent. "Sokka, the tarp goes 'on' the tent." Katara said. "Ordinarily, you would be right. But seeing that it's the dry season, your not." Sokka said to katara enoyed. "But, what if it 'does' rain?" Katara said rolling her eyes. "Well what if it doesn't? And that tarp makes a pretty warm blanket." Sokka talked back. "Oh and katara? You really need to get some more firewood. That kenneling looking pretty sorry." Said Sokka. "FINE!" Katara yelled throwing all of the twigs at him. "Hey guys, I got the grub if you got the...." Said Aang. "Hey, wheres the tent, and the camp fire?" "I dont know, why dont you ask Katara, queen of the twigs." Sokka said. "Oh well, ask Sokka, king of the, the.......... tents!" Katara yelled. "Guys, guys. Harsh words wont solve problems, action will." Aang said. "Katara, you set up the tent. Sokka, you get the firewood." "Ok, yah, umhum." Katara and Sokka murmured. The next day, they came to the Great divide, a huge canyon in the earth kingdom. "Wow! Look at it! I could just stare at it all day." Katara said. 'Well, i have seen enough. Lets go." Said sokka turning to appa. "Ugh, Sokka, how could this not festinateing you?" Katara said. "Its a huge canyon, thousands of miles long!" "Well, im sure we will be able to see it fine from the air as we fly away." Sokka said jumping onto Appa. Just then a man came running up waving his arm in the air. "Whait! If your here waiting for the canyon guide, I was here first!" He yelled. He was dressed in a long white, elegant robe. "My tribes on there way!" He said. "Hey, calm down, were just gonna fly over." Sokka said. "Hey, is that your tribe?" Katara asked spotting a group or people coming toward them. They where all dressed in red and black, they looked very sloppy. 'That most sertently is not!" The man said. "They are the Zhangs, a tribe of dirty, steeling, lowlife thugs. They have been the enemy of my tribe for 100 years." "Hey Zhangs, dont eaven think about steeling the canyon guide!" Just then, the canyon guide bended his way thru a wall. He was dressed in a green outfit and a torn straw hat. "Ok! Who am I taking thru the canyon first?" The guide said in a low raspy voice. "Me, my tribe is on there way!" The man said. "Well, were all here, take us!" Said a man that looked to be the leader of the Zhangs. "Hey! Theres my tribe!" Said that man that they met first. The tribe that the man was with was the Gan Jins. They where all dressed like the man that they met, other than one, he was dressed in a gold robe, he looked like the leader. "Hey, you need to take us first, we have sick people that need doctors!" The leader of the Zhangs said. "Well we have old people that need to get across!" Said the leader of the Gan Jins. "SIck people get priority over old people!" Yelled the Zhang leader. "Ready to put your pice making skills to the test?" Katara whispered to Aang. "Ummm, sure." Said Aang "Hey!" Aang yelled. Everyone looked at him. "Listen, Appa here will fly your sick and elderly across. All of you Zhangs and Gan Jing are going to cross this canyon together!" He instructed them. "Ugh, fine sure, ok." Everyone murmured. "Ok, heres the bad news." Said the canyon guide. "No food in the canyon, it attracts canyon crawlers!" (Huge animals that eat people) "What!? No food?! No Way!" Everyone said. "Aww, yo babies can go a day without food cant ya? Would you rather be hungry, or dead?" Said the canyon guide. "So all food had better be in your gut, or in the garbage!" Everyone started eating. The Gan Jins eating small pieces of food with chop-sticks, and the Zhangs eating chicken legs very sloppily. THey finished eating, then took off into the canyon. "SO. do you know how this canyon was formed?" Katara asked the guide. "yes, most likely this canyon was formed by powerful earthbending spirits, that where mad at the farmers for planting on there land." Just then, a huge rock fell and was coming right for them! The canyon guide bended the rocks away from them. "Hahahahaha. and apparently there still angry!" The guide said. Every thing when rather well for a very long time. But then, out of nowhere, a huge canyon crawler appeared! "Oh no!" The canyon guide yelled, he was being picked up by the canyon crawler. The canyon crawler eld the guide from his mouth. "Oh no you dont!" Sokkka yelled. Then he threw his boomerang at the canyon crawler. It shook his head, and flung the guide in to a pile o rocks. "Oh no!" Said Katara running to the guide. "This is not good. His arms are broken!" Katara yelled. "And without my arms no bending, in other words....." The guide said. "Were stuck in this canyon" Said Aang interrupting. They walked a long time, the two tribes fighting the whole time. "THats it!" Yelled Aang. He jumped onto a long very tall rock in the middle of the path. "Zhangs! You travel on this side of the cliff. Gan Jins, you go on that side! I will go on top of this and keep an eye on you!" The two tribes split. "Katara, you go with the Gan Jins." Aang told her. "Sokka, you go with the Zhangs. See if you guys can find out why they hate each other so much." They both nodded. After a wile of walking, the two tribes set up camp. "Arnt you going to put up the tarp?" Sokka asked one of the Zhangs. "No, its the dry season, and besides, we like to use the tarps as blankets." He answered. "Finally, someone gets it!" Sokka said. "You really think that it will rain?" Katara asked the leader of the Gan Jins, as he was putting up the tarp. "No, but you can never be to careful right?" He answered her. Katara smiled. "So why is it that you and the Gan Jins are iname?" Sokka asked while they where setting around the fire. The leader of the Zhangs pulled out a bunch of food. "So it was you that brought food?" Sokka asked. "Listen, the Gan Jins think that were so bad, that they would bring food, because they thought we would bring food, so thats why we brought food. You follow?" He said. "Not really, but if threes food im happy." Sokka answered. And it was true, the Gan Jins Had brought food in. "Ok Sokka, this is why we hate the Gan Jins so much. One hundred years ago, a Zhang named Wei Jen when he saw that a member of the Gan Jins was collapsed just outside the village. He was carrying a sacred orb to there people, back to the village. Wei Gen stopped to help the man, but he just told him to take the orb to the Gan Gins village. He carried it all the way there but when Wei Gen got there, the Gan Jins accused him of stealing toe orb and put him in jail for 20 long years. TO this day the Gan Jins still do there redipsion ritual. You can never trust a Gan Jin." He told sokka. The Gan jins told Katara pretty much the same thing, but that Wei Gen stole the orb. The next day, Katara and Sokka met with Aang. "Did you find out?" Aang asked them. "Yes." Katara and Sokka both said at the same time. They told him what they had said. Then Katara and Sokka started fighting about which story was true. A little later, the tribes met up again. They di ok for a wile, no fighting. Bt all of the sudden, 8 canyon crawlers jumped out in front of them. "Not again!" they yelled, then Angs saw the food and had an idea. He took all of the food and threw it up the side of the canyon wall, they where now at the and of the canyon. They grabbed the bags tat the food was in, and put the bags over the canyon crawlers mouths. They jumped on top of them and rode them ou the side of the canyon wall! They got to the top and threw the food back down, the canyon crawlers when back down to get it. "WOw, I had no idea that you Zhang where so handy in a fight." said the leader of the Gan Jins. "ANd I had no idea you Gan Jind could kick some butt." Said the Zhang leader. "To bad you cant re-right history." said The Zhang leader. Te two leaders drew there swords, and started fighting, while talking about Jin Wei and Wei Jin. "Hey, Wei Jin and Jin wei?" Aang asked. "I know those guys! I may not look it, but im a hundred and twelve years old. Wei Jin and Jin Wei whernt enemies! THey where brothers, twins in fact, and they where 8! I was there on the day your talking about! They whernt fighting about an orb, they where fighting over a ball! A soccer ball! Jim Wei had the ball, but he tripped, and Wei Gen got it, he got to the west gate, which was a goal, and stepped out of bounds! The official put him in the penalty box for 2 short minutes, not 20 long years! Dont get me wrong, Wei Jin was a pig, and Jim Wei was a neat freak. But they respected each others differences." Said Aang. "Huh." said the Zhangs and Gan Jins. "Well, let us travel to Ba Sing Se together." Said the Zhang leader. Then they left. "Wow Aang, it was such a coincidence that you know them!" Said katara "Yah, you could say that,.... or you could call it lying." Said Aang. "I made it all up." He said smiling. "You are so bad." Said Katara. Thanks for reading!! Tell your friends!!! Momo was jumping around in the trees looking for some bugs for dinner. He was swing from branch to branch with his tail. He saw a pile of nuts on top of a pile of leaves on the forest floor, he jumped onto it, then he was in a Hog-monkey trap. "Oh no!" Aang said as he Airbended himself to the top of the tree there the trap was hanging from. He lowered it down, and Katara and Sokka let him out of the trap. They looked up to see that two hog-monkeys where in other traps. Aang decided to go get them out using the same method as he did to get Momo out of the trap. "Ugh, this is going to take way to long" sokka murmured. He threw his trusty boomerang at the ropes and it cut the traps down. "Oh, well that was faster" Aang said, jumping out of the tree. "We'd better get going" Katara said climbing on to Appa's back. "No flying this time" Sokka said enoyed. "Why not?" Aang asked. "Because, were running from the fire nation Aang, Appa's to noticeable." Sokka answered. "Appas not noticeable." Katara said enoyed. "He's a giant flying buffalo with an are on his head, how is that not noticeable?" Sokka said. "He has a point, Katara." "Still, im not walking all the way thru the forest, Sokka." Said Katara. Katara, were walking." Said Sokka. "Who knows, maybe walking will be fun." Aang said. Katara gowned. "Fine" she said. 10 minutes later: "Walking stinks!" Aang said. "How do people get around without a flying bison?" Aang said. "Well Aang" Sokka said. "A leader has to trust his instincts." "Ugh, who made you the leader?" Katara asked enoyed. "If we have a leader, it should be Aang. He is the Avatar after all." Katara said. "Are you kidding me? Hes just a goofy kid!" Sokka said. "It's true" Said Aang with his finger shoved up his nose. "Ok, then, a 'man' has to trust his instincts." said Sokka. "Man?" Katara asked. But your voice still cracks!" Katara said. "Well, im still the man, im the oldest." Sokka said trying to lover his voice. "But you have never eaven kissed a girl!" Satara said. "I have kissed a girl, you just haven't met her." Sokka said "Yah, Gran-gran? I have met Gran-gran. Katara said sarcastically. "Ugh" Sokka gowned annoyed. "Still, its safer this way." Sokka said pushing our way thru a couple of bushes. As he pushed thru them, they saw a group of fire navy solders, all staring at them! "RUN!" Sokka said. They drooped they back-packs. Then one of the firebenders shot a wall of fire behind them, blocking there way. Sokkas sleeve cout on fire Katara waterbended some water out of her pouch and put it out. "Leave peacefully, and we promise we wont hurt you." Sokka said. "You? Hurt us? HAHAHAHA!" one of the men said. Just then, the man fell to the ground. "Sokka, how did you do that?" Aang asked. "Instincts?" Sokka said sarcastically. They shot a glance in to the trees, there was a kid, well teenage boy in the tree. He jumped down, a bunch of other kids following. They started fighting them, taking them down quickly. Katara, Aang and Sokka attacked to. In just a few minutes all of the fire benders where on the ground. The kid jumped over to katara. "Hi, im Jet" he said." Ummm, Hi, im Katara." She said embarrassed. "And this is pip-squeak, smeller-bee, and the duke" Jet said. "Come on, we will take you guys to our hideout." Jet said. "Ok" Katara said quickly. There hideout was awesome! Tree houses, hidden so that the fire nation couldn't find it. "How do we get up there?" Sokka asked. "HEre, hold onto this" aid Jet. Sokka flew uo in to the air holding onto the rope so fast, he was a blur. "Here Katara, hold onto me" Jet said holding out his hand to Katara. They shot up into the tree. I could tell that Katara an Jet 'liked' each-other. "Come on" Jet said once they where in the trees. "Wow, its beautiful up here" Katara said. "Yah, its beautiful, and the fire nation cant find it" Jet said. "Ha, thats true" said Katara. They all where walking across one of the bridges. "So, you just go around helping people get away from the fire nation?" Katara asked. "Yep, all of us, every one here is here because there parents where killed by the fire nation" Jet said. "It really changed us, we dont want what happened to us to happen to any one else" "Me and Sokka lost our mother to the fire nation." Katara said. "Im so sorry Katara" Jet said. That night at dinner, jet gave a speech about how the fire nation should be scared of them, and all of that. "Wow Jet, that was a good speech" Said Katara. "Thanks" said Jet. "Ok, so I think theirs a way you can help us, Katara, Aang." "Thats great Jet" Said Sokka. "But were leaving in the morning" "Ugh, why?" Said Katara. "Because its to dangerous for us to stay in one place for a long time." Said Sokka. "Aw, sokka, I needed you for an important mission tomorrow." Said Jet, knowing that the only reason he wanted to say was because he was jelles. "Fine" said Sokka. The next day, they whent on there mission. They stayed in the trees to watch for fire benders. Sokka shoved his knife into the tree. "What are you doing?" Jet asked. "This amplifies the vibrations." Sokka said. "Impressive" Jet said. "I think i here someone." Said sokka. "How many?" Jet asked. "Just one" As he came in to view, sokka said... "False alarm, its just an old man" He was dressed in fire nation clothes. Jet smiled, then jumped out of the tree. He knocked the old man to the ground, "Jet!" Sokka yelled. "DO you like hurting people? Do like to separate families? Do you?! Do you?!" Jet yelled "Jet! Hes just a harmless old man!" Sokka yelled. "Let him go!" "Fine" Said jet. When they got back to the tree-house, sokka told Aang and Katara what happened. "Oh, come on, I want to hear Jet's side of the story. " Katara said. When they got there Jet said "Sokka, you told them what happened, but he left out the fact that the guy was fire nation." "Yah, he left out that detail" Said Katara. "STill, he was harmless" Sokka said. "Sokka, look" Jet said pulling out a knife. "The old man had this with him, theres a compartment for poison in the top, see?" Jet said holding it out to Sokka. "He was sent to kill me" "There was no knife!" said Sokka. "Sokka, you just dident see it" Katara said. "Fine! But were leaving in the morning!" Sokka yelled, then left. "Ok, This is what I need your help with" Said Jet. "The fire nation is going to try to burn down the forest, and there are natural springs down by the lake, I need you two to bend the water into it, so we can put fight the fires." "Ok Jet, we will be happy to help!" Katara said. When they got there, they filled it with water. Jet whent down to the lake to see how things where going. Katara and Aang got done early, so they whent down to check up on Jet. They saw Jet and his gang pushing barrels of blasting jelly to the dam. "What do they need blasting jelly for?" Sokka asked Aang. "Because there going to blow up the dam!" Aang realized. "What, Why?" Asked katara. "Because he wants to kill all of the fire navy solders." Said Aang. "But, that would kill the people that live in the town to, Jet wouldn't do that!" Katara said. "I have to go stop them!" Said Aang. "Not without your glider!" Said Jet holding his glider that he would have to use to get to the dam. "Jet, im not going to fight you." Aang said. you will have to if you want to get your glider back!" Jet yelled jumping in to a tree, with Aang following. They fought in the trees, then finally Aang got his glider back. Jet jumped down to Katara and she water bended, freezing him to a tree. "Jet! You monster!" Katara yelled. "Its to late" He said, sending a signal to his gang, then the dam exploded. "NO!" Katara yelled. Just then, Sokka came riding up on Appa. "Its ok, I warned the villagers of what they where going to do, they all got out." Sokka said "Sokka! You idiot!" Yelled Jet. "Jet, you lost" said Sokka. Katara and Aang smiled Thanks for reading! Avatar storyline

The world of avatar: In the world, there are 4 nations, "The water tribe, the earth kingdom, the fire nation, and the air nation". In the 4 elements, there are people that have mastered the ability to move there nations element, without touching it, they call themselves, benders. "Long ago the 4 nations lived together in harmony, then everything changed when the fire nation attacked. Only the avatar, master of all 4 elements could stop them, but when the world needed him most he vanished. 100 years passed, and my brother and I discovered the new avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world." My name is Katara, I am 14 and I am a waterbender from the southern tribe. My brother Sokka, is not a bender, but a (fairly) capable warrior. One day we found Aang frozen in an iceberg, turned out he had been there for 100 years! We now are one our way to the northern water tribe, so Aang and I can learn waterbending from a master. Along the way we have encountered many obstacles, like, the prince of the fire nation, Zuko. Some pirates, and many firenation solders, who all want Aang to be captured, so the war will not be stoped by him. We met an earthbender named Haru, and ended up having to free him from a firenation prison. This journey has led us all over the world, but the most important trip was to talk to avatar Roku, the avatar before Aang. He told us that a comet was coming, it would only pass bye, not hit, but aang had to stop the firenation before summers end, because the comet would give the firebenders amazing power, they would be unstoppable. So here we are, still trying to get to the north pole so aang could learn waterbending. The first stop in Aang's training.
